Description:
I build up oil pastel color on a gessoed watercolor paper or birchwood panel, usually blending the material and sometimes allowing the surface to show through. After the pastel settles, the work is framed, if on paper, and varnished if on wood panel. Because there is no glass on the wooden panels, the rich intensity of the color can be seen more directly.
