Description:

Our work is the result of more than 30 years of designing and making leather bags and selling them at fine art/craft fairs. With leather work everything begins with the choice of materials. Our primary outside leather is a vat dyed vegetable tanned cowhide that's colored and embossed to our specifications. Since we own the embossing plates used to create the textures and the colors are custom and the leather is quite unique. Our construction technique is also different than what is found in manufactured bags. The front and back panels are firm laminations of textured and colored leather. We use softer leathers for the gusset to provide flexibility in use. We view our bag shapes as frameworks on which to hang the functional elements of bag design which are mostly on the inside. We offer custom interior pocket arrangements on any bag. Each bag starts as a series of drawings. From there we'll choose a sketch to make into full size patterns and models. The creative decisions and critical processes are ours.
We've trained a shop assistant and seamstress to help us complete the bags. All the work in our booth are our original designs and are made from start to finish in our studio in Watsonville, CA. We sign and date each bag and guarantee the workmanship indefinitely.
