Medium: This was lathe turned by hand from one solid piece of Boxelder Burl. Applied dyes penetrate into the end grain deeper. It is then sanded, leaving the deeper color, re-dyed in multiple steps and colors to accentuate the grain.

Medium: Free-hand carved American Elm. Segmented, facing surfaces finely sanded, and re-joined with steel rod. Hand-wrought steel staples mend the deliberately forced curing cracks. Presented on a steel stand with dark patina.
